The UAE with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority joined more than 188 countries across the world in marking Earth Hour 2019, switching off lights to show its commitment to protecting the planet and raising environmental awareness. From the Eiffel Tower to the Sydney Opera House, and the Empire State Building to Burj Khalifa, thousands of landmarks switch off their lights in solidarity with the planet, to raise awareness about the importance of nature and encourage individuals, businesses and governments worldwide to be a part of the solutions needed to build a healthy, sustainable future – and planet – for all.
This year is set to be another record-breaker, with more than 15,000 citizens from different countries living in Dubai coming together at Marasi Promenade to highlight and encourage action on the environmental issues that are most relevant to them. Setting the benchmark even higher for creating a ‘Larger Than Life Experience’, Mosaic Live designed and executed an unconventional and innovative celebration for DEWA Earth Hour 2019 with the theme of Urban Sustainability to light up the spirit of togetherness for achieving sustainability. DEWA Earth Hour 2019 was a blend of uniquely designed structures with elements of sustainability as emblems of Hope for the Better Future and to Connect to Earth. 15 key Government Departments such as The Executive Council of Dubai, Ministry of Energy & Industry, Ministry of Climate Change & Environment, Dubai Police, General Directorate of Residency of Foreigners Affairs, Roads & Transport Authority, Dubai Municipality, Supreme Council of Energy, DP World, Civil Defense, etc. and 20 private companies took part in the activities. Walking through the event, Marasi Promenade was fully branded and transformed into a full-fledged Earth Hour space. People entered through the 5 meters high triangle-shaped futuristic entrance tunnel setting the mood for the urban sustainability vibe; framing the event space in sight before entering through the massive triangular frame structures. With 10,000+ attendees, Mosaic Live ensured a full-fledged Information Desk to help the guests.
Mosaic Live also created a Heritage Zone with a traditional setup and design having traditional Arabic food, handicrafts and displays. A Camp Site was set up with innovative floors and walls made of LEDs displaying the content and information of Earth Hour. The event had Hammock Area, Inflatable Castles, Noor Hayat Stand and Kids Skilled Games for teenagers and kids; they loved it! The tech-driven Pledge Wall with customized content and interactive LED interface gave people the opportunity to pledge to the Earth where all the pledges made were displayed on the screen showing the Earth filled with pledges.
