The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) participated in the Abu Dhabi Book Fair 2025 with an 84 square meters stand presence from 29 April to 5 May 2025. The event took place at ADNEC Exhibition Centre in Abu Dhabi. The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair is a leading event in the industry committed to supporting Arab publishing that caters to people of all ages with special focus on the youth.
ENEC tasked us with conceptualizing and delivering a vibrant week with engaging activities for a diverse but young audience visiting the book fair. The stand was designed to be an open plan layout which was welcoming and attractive from all sides.
Aimed at the group age of 6 years old to 16 years old, we focussed on creatively engaging kids with mini workshops from simple handicrafts to educational quizzes and complex robotics games, ensuring that there was something for every age on exploring how clean energy is shaping a sustainable future. Some of the fun activities were:
Cycling for Clean Energy Power:
This activation aimed to have kids cycle as fast as they could to generate clean energy to blend fruits and produce a glass of juice. A screen connected to the cycles measured the amount of power generated and the difficulty level was adjustable to different age groups. With two cycles on the stand, we soon had kids competing with their friends to see who got to the finish line faster and the activity turned out to be so popular that it had kids queuing up multiple times for their chance to beat each other. They were well rewarded for their efforts with fresh juice and a better understanding of generating clean energy.
Robotic Football Match:
With four robots and simple programming, students were able to play a 5 minute football match on a tabletop football field against each other. Navigating the controls and directing the movement of the robots took skill and getting used to which came naturally to some students while others needed trial rounds before they kicked off the game. It was entertaining for kids to experience coding and technology live, which is now a pre-requisite in many school curriculums paving the way for future technology in our lives.
Test your Nuclear Knowledge:
Our young audience proved to have good knowledge and information about nuclear energy and UAE Barakah power plant. With a set of tailored questions, kids got to test themselves, learn and confirm the facts they knew about UAE’s Peaceful Nuclear Program. Once they scored high on the quiz, they were rewarded with an Enec branded giveaway inspiring young minds with the power of nuclear energy.
The Barakah Power plant 3D model:
The center of attention on the stand was the ENEC Barakah Power Plant model, which had the ENEC team engaging with guests, explaining the plant functionality and the contribution to UAE clean power supply.
Young kids’ Arts and Crafts Station:
What is more fun than sticking and gluing things together to shape and color art pieces that you can show off to your friends? Our arts & crafts station had several fun activities from coloring and crafts for the little ones to FAQs on carbon footprint impact on the environment for the older children. Kids were also able to color branded pouches made from sustainable materials as a take home souvenir.
All in all, it was a vibrant week at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair – from competitions to crafts, it was a week of learning, curiosity, and exploring how clean energy is shaping a sustainable future. A big thank you to everyone who stopped by ENEC’s stand.
